Wind Energy in British Columbia

As of 2007 BC had no installed large-scale wind energy, although there are several approved projects with a total capacity of 325 MW. 

 

Most of these are planned for the Peace River area in the northeast and on the coast close to Prince Rupert.  Most are in the planning stages; some are actually under construction.

 

Several wind farms have been proposed for the northern part of Vancouver Island and even for parts of Georgia Strait, but these projects are not as far advanced as those elsewhere in BC.
