GEOG 328 Geographic Information Systems I
No Current SectionsThis course is an introduction to the systems and science of geographic information systems, and to the concepts and theories of spatial data and its analyses. Topics include spatial and attribute data (collection, quality, generalization and models) and analytical operations and modeling. The lab portion provides basic skills in data query, overlays, buffers and layouts with vector-attribute data and exposure to interpolations, digital terrain modeling, buffers and overlays with raster data. (2:0:2)
-
GEOG 329 Geographic Information Systems II
No Current SectionsA continuation of GEOG 328. Topics include the science and its application to solving problems. The lab portion helps develop skills in managing data, conducting intermediate level spatial analyses and producing acceptable cartographic output. Topics include geodetics, managing uncertainty, data models and structures (e.g., topological vector model, raster, TIN), cartographic modeling, digital terrain/surface analysis, cost surfaces, networks, and multi-criteria decision making. (2:0:3)
-
GEOG 374 Hydrology
No Current SectionsA study of the terrestrial part of the hydrological cycle, focussing on the various factors that influence the distribution of water resources over time and space. Topics include physical hydrology - the basic patterns of precipitation and runoff - and the major ways in which the Earth's surface, particularly in the humid-temperate zone, and human occupation of the planet can control these patterns.
-
GEOG 501 Foundations of Geographic Information
No Current SectionsIntroduction to geographic information systems (GIS) theory and applications.
